THE STORY OF GOD—What it is we’re up to…
The story of God runs from the creation of everything to the consummation of everything in God’s Kingdom and includes everything God is doing in the already-and-not-yet. The lives of God-followers today are vignettes in that continuing story, joining the millennia of God-followers who live out God’s story. The God-followers here in Torrance, at TFB, and in the TFB college group are part of the ongoing story that includes believers across the globe. God has commanded us to be his storytellers through our lives, through words, through media, through art, and through any means possible, spreading the Story of God to all who will listen.

BIBLE DISCUSSION—Messy Spirituality, Psalm 26
TUESDAYS
7:15-9:00 pm— TFB College Room
Discussion is potluck style—everybody brings something to share,
so read ahead, pray a bunch, listen, and create.
“According to his critics, Jesus ‘did God’ all wrong. He went to the wrong places, said the wrong thigns, and worst of all, let just anyone into the kingdom. Jesus scandalized an intimidating, elitist, country-club religion by opening membership in the spiritual life to those who had been denied it. What made people furious was Jesus’ ‘irresponsible’ habit of throwing open the doors of his love to the whosoevers, the just-any-ones, and the not-a-chancers like you and me” (p. 47).
Read the story of Jesus healing the blind man with spit-mud John 9
“Jesus often left his followers ‘I don’t know-ing.’ Our personal relationship with Christ is often the only apologetic we can offer. Our lack of knowing is the beginning of humility and the very essence of the spiritual life” (p. 52).
Think: What do you know of Jesus?
God’s hesed is
- the context in which we see our experience, v.3
- the reason for our holiness, v.1-2, 4-5
- the cause of our worship and the content of our witness, v.6-7
Psalm 26:1-7
“For your steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in your faithfulness.”
Tuesday prayer, 4/5/05
Thanks to Danny for being our worship leader.
WHAT’S NEXT?
Mike Yaconelli’s Messy Spirituality-we’re on pg 45
Psalms ‘hesed’ passages—worship readings and prayer response
