2007 GLOBAL PROJECT: We're buying a farm for Christmas!

Goal: $2470

What do you get when you give two pigs, two alpacas, two sheep, two cows, and two goats? The satisfaction of providing new hope and lasting impact for up to 10 families in need around the world! These farm animals will bring smiles to the faces of moms and dads who will be able to feed their children and increase their family incomes, thanks to you. The next best thing to seeing a child milk, shear, or care for one of these animals is to share the joy of this gift with someone close to your heart.

Save your pocket change (even the paper kind!)
and bring it to Collegium or the Gathering each week.

=============================
SUNDAY COLLEGIUM--TFB Constitution

Sunday, December 17, 2006, the Collegium began a biblical, theological, and practical discussion of the Torrance First Baptist Constitution.

We are on a journey as fellow travelers.
Some of us have been journeying a long time and know more.
Others are new to the journey and have fresh eyes and fresh wonder.
Yet we are fellow travelers.
All have a voice.

So,

Live intentionally.
Look for the fingerprints of God.
Wonder.
Think.
Ask questions.

Bring your gathered bits to the Sunday Collegium, 11 AM in the college room.

SERMON NOTES: a Fresh Start
Preparing for the New Year
Pastor Charlie
January 14, 2007

“The Lord says,
`Forget about what has happened before.
Do not think about the past…
look at the new things I'm going to do’”
Isaiah 43:18-19, NCV

“…I am still not all I should be,
but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing:
Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. I strain to reach
the end of the race and receive the prize for which God,
through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven”
Philippians 3:13-14, NLT

S - STOP MAKING EXCUSES Proverbs 28:13

Common Causes of Failure:
  • Often we fail because we do not plan ahead. Proverbs 27:12
  • Often we fail because we do not listen to others. Proverbs 15:22
  • Often we fail because we give up too soon. Proverbs 24:10

T – TAKE STOCK OF YOUR LIFE. Galatians 3:4
  • What have I learned?
  • What are my assets?
  • Who can help me?

A - ACT IN FAITH. Matthew 9:29; Proverbs 16:9; 29:25

R – REFOCUS YOUR THOUGHTS. Proverbs 4:23; Psalm 1:1-3

T – TRUST GOD TO HELP. Zechariah 4:6

“When someone becomes a Christian,
he becomes a brand new person inside.
He is not the same anymore.
A new life has begun!”
2 Corinthians 5:17, LB

MY PRAYER FOR TFB COLLEGE

I pray that we would know the story of God for what it is—God's glorious work through all of time, bringing everything into conformity to his will—and would be honest about the story of ourselves—that we are messy people learning to follow Jesus.

I pray that we would be the people of God—members of Christ's body and members with all Christ-followers (even those who do not seem to be as spiritual as we are). I pray that we would be connected with the believers at TFB, actively participating in the life of our local congregation.

I pray that we would expand the kingdom, not only by telling others about Jesus, but also by taking a hard look at our lifestyle choices, by being broken by our own worldly conformity, and by deciding to live lives that point to Jesus.

SERMON NOTES: Let God Handle It
Luke 8:41-48
Pastor Rog

  1. Give all the spiritual weights to Jesus; you cannot handle them.
  2. Jesus is genuinely concerned; have faith.
  3. it is the object of faith (Jesus) that has the power, not the faith itself.
