LIFE TOGETHER: Prayer & Word

Psalm 145

Comments from Dr. Constable:
This acrostic psalm begins a series of six psalms, the last six in the Psalter, that are especially full of praise to God. The title, "a psalm of praise," occurs only here in the Book of Psalms. The word "praise" appears 46 times in the last six psalms. In this psalm David praised God for His powerful acts, for an everlasting kingdom, and for His response to those who pray to Him… This psalm is a great catalogue of reasons to praise God. Like the other acrostic psalms it is a model for us to use in recalling many of the things about God for which we should praise Him.

After spending some time reading Psalm 145, think over your life the past few weeks. Where have you seen God’s goodness. List them in your journal. Take some time to thank God, the go out and tell someone else where you have seen God’s goodness in your life.

NEXT SUNDAY GATHERING

“Ministry” 1a. The act of serving; ministration. b. One that serves as a means; an instrumentality. 2a. The profession, duties, and services of a minister. b. The Christian clergy. c. The period of service of a minister. 3a. A governmental department presided over by a minister. b. The building in which such a department is housed. c. The duties, functions, or term of a governmental minister. d. often Ministry Governmental ministers considered as a group. American Heritage Dictionary

OK, so according to the dictionary ministry is serving. But what does that mean in ordinary life? Is it serving on committees or some other sort of church work? Quick answer: Nope, not really.

Here’s a clue: Galatians 5:13-14 NASB
"For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'"

Next Sunday we’ll start working through the “how”

Life continues…

TFB: Sharing Our Hope

I Peter 3:15
Pastor Charlie

WE SHARE HOPE PROPERLY FOCUSED.
1 Peter 3:15

Hope is an optimistic outlook based on good promises from someone who can fulfill those promises.

Hope properly focused involves trust.
Who should you trust?
1. Someone known to be one who never breaks a promise
2. Someone who has the ability and resources to fulfill the promises
3. Someone whose promises have your best interests at heart
JESUS FITS THE BILL!!
*God works all things together for my good! Romans 8:28
*Nothing can ever come between me and God’s love for me! Romans 8:39
*God’s plan has my best interest at heart! Jeremiah 29:11
*God will never abandon me! Hebrews 13:5
*Jesus will return and bring me to heaven. John 14:3

Hope properly focused requires surrender.

WE SHARE REASONS PESONALLY APPLIED.

WE SHARE WITH GENTLENESS SINCERELY EXPRESSED.

Our hope gently and sincerely shared gives us integrity.
Our hope gently and sincerely shared draws people to God. 1 Peter 2:12

WE SHARE WITH CONFIDENCE FAITHFULLY MAINTAINED.

If Noah was guided by God, we can be guided by God.
If Noah didn't have to produce results, neither do we.
If Noah can handle the insults and the persecution, so can we.
