SERMON NOTES—Four Keys To Effective Living, Part 1
What God Can Do Through Ordinary You
Hebrews 11:24-28
Pastor Charlie

Moses settled four basic questions in his life:

1. Who am I?
2. What are my choices?
3. What is really important?
4. What are my goals?

1. BE YOURSELF (v. 24).
2. ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN LIFE (v. 25).
3. ESTABLISH A VALUE SYSTEM FOR YOUR LIFE (v. 26), Luke 16:13
The world’s value system:
a. The value of Pleasure. "I want to feel good."
b. The value of Possessions. "I want to be wealthy.”
c. The value of Power. "I want to be famous.”
God’s value system:
a. God's purpose is more valuable than popularity.
b. People are more valuable than pleasures.
c. God's peace is more valuable than possessions.
4. NEVER TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE GOAL (v. 26, 27), 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Your happiness is determined by your character.
Your character is determined by your choices.
Your choices are determined by your values.
Your values are determined by your vision -- what you are looking ahead to.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses,
let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles,
and let us run with perseverance the race that is marked out for us.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith,
Who for the joy set before Him endured the cross…" (Hebrews 12:1-2, NIV).
