WEEKLY LECTIO DIVINA

Matthew 7:24-27
  1. Lectio--Reading, savoring the text, listening for the voice of God
  2. Meditatio--Meditation, thinking about the passage (like a cow chewing its cud)
  3. Oratio--Prayer, talking with God about the passage and how God wants us to respond
  4. Contemplatio--Contemplation, resting silently in God's presence
  5. Write down your experience of the text and the Lectio Divina
"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it."

2007 GLOBAL PROJECT: We're buying a farm for Christmas!

Goal: $2470

What do you get when you give two pigs, two alpacas, two sheep, two cows, and two goats? The satisfaction of providing new hope and lasting impact for up to 10 families in need around the world! These farm animals will bring smiles to the faces of moms and dads who will be able to feed their children and increase their family incomes, thanks to you. The next best thing to seeing a child milk, shear, or care for one of these animals is to share the joy of this gift with someone close to your heart.

Save your pocket change (even the paper kind!)
and bring it to Collegium or the Gathering each week.

SUNDAY COLLEGIUM
Discussion of questions and issues brought by members of the Collegium. Open to all ages.

Current Topic: TFB Constitution
Next Topic: Playing With Fire, by Walt Russell

We are on a journey as fellow travelers.
Some of us have been journeying a long time and know more.
Others are new to the journey and have fresh eyes and fresh wonder.
Yet we are fellow travelers.
All have a voice.

So,

Live intentionally.
Look for the fingerprints of God.
Wonder.
Think.
Ask questions.

Bring your gathered bits to the Sunday Collegium, 11 AM, Room 202.

SERMON NOTES--A True Worshipper: A Surrendered Life
Isaiah 6:1-8
Pastor Charlie
February 18, 2007

“Father, renew my heart this morning.
I want to be blessed by You.
I want to be used by You.
But more than that I want to be right with You.
Speak to my heart Lord, Amen!”

STEPS TO A SURRENDERED LIFE

Step 1 - Personal Cleansing: my confession of sins – WOE (v. 5-7). Psalm 24:3-6; Hebrews 12:14; 2 Timothy 2:21; 1 Timothy 1:19; Psalm 139:23-24

“God is not so much concerned about the sin in your life as much as He is about your heart’s response to it.”

“A truly repentant person does not care who knows.”

“Personal renewal starts with a broken heart.”

How to deal with sin:
  • You ask God to forgive you and cleanse you. Psalm 51:10
  • You commit to reconcile with any person that God brought to mind. Psalm 32:3-6

Step 2 – Personal Consecration: dedicating my life – LO (v. 8) Romans 12:1; Psalm 51:17; 1 Peter 2:24; Galatians 2:20; John 12:24-25; 1 Corinthians 15:31; Romans 6:13

“The greatest hindrance to God’s work in us is not other people, it is ourselves.”

“Lord, show me what I must be willing to let go of in order to be completely yours.”

Step 3 – Personal Commissioning: Receiving my mission – GO (v. 9a) John 17:18;
Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Chronicles 16:9; Isaiah 41:4; Job 23:14; Ephesians 1:10;
Psalm 37:5
